Apply for a Scaffold Permit in Public Right of Way

Are you installing a scaffold within city limits?  

An engineering permit is required to install a scaffold of any height, when placed in the city’s right of way. The engineering permit will only be issued to a licensed general contractor.

Step 1.Submit Your Permit Application

Complete and submit your permit application. Please allow two business days for processing. After your application is processed, the digital applicant will receive an email with a link to access the digital plan review system, ProjectDox.

Step 2.Submit Your Plans

After your application is processed, you will receive an email with a link to access ProjectDox to upload your plans.

Step 3.Check Plan Status

You can review the status of your plan review at any time. Review time after plan submittal is three business days.

Step 4.Make a Payment

We will email you payment instructions after all reviews are completed, approved and updated with the contractor information associated with your permit. You can view any fees that are due and pay them using our Permit Lookup tool.

Step 5.Download Permit and Plans

After your fees are paid, you will receive an email notification that your plans are available for download. Log in to ProjectDox and download your plans from the 'Approved' folder. Remember, you must print them to scale and display them at your job site before beginning construction.

Step 6.Schedule an Inspection

Before beginning your project, a pre-walk inspection by both the Permitting Department and the Fire Department is required. You can schedule your pre-walk Permitting Inspection and schedule your OFD Fire Marshal inspection online.
