Thornton Park Urbanist Walking Tour
Next date: Saturday, May 03, 2025 | 04:00 PM
to 05:30 PM
In celebration of Jane Jacobs Day (the “Mother of Modern Urban Planning” and author of “The Death and Life of Great American Cities”), Logan Lamphere, MSURP, will be hosting an urbanist walking tour of Thornton Park. The walk is open to everyone and will start at the Four Rivers Fountain and wrap up at Burton’s, Orlando's oldest bar, for a drink.
During the tour, participants will observe and discuss various elements of urban planning including: urban design, community building, transportation, history, public health, public safety, land use and zoning, economic development, housing and environmental planning. The original design and layout of the neighborhood from the 1910s and 1920s informs its walkability and success today.
