Over time, communities and populations change. To ensure each of our districts continue to represent an equal number of residents, we conduct a process every ten years, called redistricting, to appropriately and fairly readjust the lines of districts in accordance with population shifts.

The City of Orlando 2022 Redistricting Advisory Board (RAB), a volunteer advisory board made up of City of Orlando residents, was tasked with soliciting community feedback and ultimately recommending a proposed commission district map to City Council.

Efforts to solicit community feedback and input included a community survey, bi-lingual redistricting notices in local newspapers and on the radio, and full day open houses to assist residents with map drawing, among others. Additionally, the Board held hybrid meetings in each commission district to ensure accessibility for all residents.

The board presented its recommended map to City Council on June 6, 2022, where City Council reviewed and discussed the recommendation. On June 20, 2022, City Council approved a final commission district map that took effect on October 1, 2022.
