Community to Honor Fallen Veterans During Wreaths Across America Day

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, District 4 City Commissioner Patty Sheehan Joining Community to Honor Fallen Veterans During Wreaths Across America Day 

WHAT:
On Saturday, December 15th at 12 noon, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 4 City Commissioner Patty Sheehan will join the community at Greenwood Cemetery to honor veterans during the holiday season as part of the national Wreaths Across America Day.  

Immediately following the opening ceremony recognizing veterans from all branches of the military, Mayor Dyer, Commissioner Sheehan and volunteers will place more than 600 wreaths in the American Legion/Military, Union, Spanish American War, and Confederate sections of the Greenwood Cemetery.

The public is invited to attend and should arrive between 11:30 and 11:45 if they would like to volunteer to place wreaths.   

Wreaths Across America Day began more than 23 years ago when the Worcester Wreath Company from Harrington, Maine, initiated a tradition of donating and placing wreaths on the headstones of our nation’s fallen heroes at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.

Greenwood Cemetery will be one of more than 1,200 locations nationally participating in Wreaths Across America Day, which began in 1992 at Arlington National Cemetery.
