Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 5 City Commissioner Regina I. Hill Join with Local Youth to Cut Ribbon on Northwest Neighborhood Center Playground

WHAT: 

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 5 City Commissioner Regina I. Hill will join children at the Northwest Neighborhood Center to cut the ribbon on a brand new playground, which the children at the center helped design. In the summer of 2017, the city and playground engineers held a design party, allowing the children to draw pictures and discuss ideas for the new playground, all of which went into the final vision.

The playground, with features for children from two to 12 years old, includes a seven-post climbing net structure with ring pulls, tightrope and boogie board, four swings, a double slide, climbing wall, shade structures and a two-level motion spinner. In addition to the play activities these amenities offer, they also help children develop motor skills such as balance and coordination, as well as problem solving and strategic thinking.

The updated playground furthers the city’s continued commitment to providing a diverse array of amenities and enhancing the lives of Orlando residents, ensuring that Orlando is a city for everyone.
