The Addition of Curry Ford West Market Street to Main Streets Program

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and the Orlando City Council Approve the Addition of Curry Ford West Market Street to the Orlando Main Streets Program, Making it the 10th District in 10 Years
October 8, 2018 – ORLANDO, Fla. – At today’s City Council meeting, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and the Orlando City Council voted to approve funding for the addition of Curry Ford West Market Street to the Orlando Main Streets program. As part of the Main Streets program, Curry Ford West will receive financial assistance, technical support and training from the city to foster growth and prosperity among the small businesses and neighborhoods within the district.
Curry Ford West is home to a diverse collection of businesses and community spaces including Pizza Bruno, Theo’s Kitchen, Peaceful Peacock, Roque Pub, JJ’s Fusion Grille and Thy Crown and Glory Salon.
“The city’s Main Streets include many of my favorite places to eat, drink and shop, as they are all extremely special, homegrown businesses offering unique gems in our community, and we are excited to welcome a new addition to that family,” said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. “This year, we also celebrated a decade of the city’s Main Streets program and look forward to continue watching these districts’ grow in the coming years.”
Curry Ford West was created as a result of residents and business owners coming together with a shared vision to promote and enhance the vibrant and thriving community.
“Curry Ford West has been the shopping, eating and drinking area for surrounding neighborhoods for years, but we are now in a position to strengthen the growth and economic vitality of the area,” said Diane Crouse, a long-time resident and President of Curry Ford West. “It has been an exciting journey to get to this point where Curry Ford West is a part of this program.”
Curry Ford West is the second Market Street in the Orlando Main Streets program, joining Gateway Orlando. Market Street designations were specifically designed by the City of Orlando for neighborhood commercial districts that do not necessarily meet the historic preservation requirement for a Main Street designation.
Since the program’s inception in 2008, Orlando Main Streets successes include over $1 billion in public and private investments made in improvements to the districts, the development of more than 1,000 new businesses and the creation of nearly 6,400 full and part-time jobs.
