Media Availability: City of Orlando Provides Transportation Briefing on Upcoming Traffic Impacts in Downtown Orlando
***Media Availability*** – Chris Cairns, City of Orlando Transportation Engineering Manager, will brief the media and be available for interview on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at 11 a.m.
WHAT:
As downtown Orlando continues to be the place for Central Florida to gather and create unique experiences and the city prepares to welcome 8,000 students, faculty and staff to the UCF Downtown and Valencia College Downtown campus, the city is committed to helping visitors and residents easily get to the area, find parking and travel safely.
This weekend, in addition to downtown’s regular active and vibrant scene, the City of Orlando is also excited to “Welcome Home” students to the new UCF Downtown and Valencia College Downtown.
Along with campus move-in and classes beginning Monday, several large-scale events are happening this weekend at downtown venues including Amway Center, Camping World Stadium and Exploria Stadium that will attract sizable crowds and will result in road closures.
In advance of this, City of Orlando Transportation Engineering Manager Chris Cairns will provide a briefing on how the city is preparing from a transportation standpoint, what people should expect over the weekend and into the following week and recommendations on how to plan ahead.
