Orlando Certified at AARP Age-Friendly Community

WHAT:

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and the Mayor’s Committee on Livability and Healthy Aging will join Florida representatives from AARP to officially announce Orlando’s certification as a member of the AARP Network of Age-Friendly Communities and the launch of a comprehensive community survey to assess Orlando’s age-friendliness.

As a member of the network, the city has committed to conducting a community assessment to determine our city’s age-friendliness and developing an action plan to implement age-friendly initiatives. These initiatives will focus on the areas of housing, caregiving, community engagement, volunteering, social inclusion and combating isolation among older citizens.

During this announcement, representatives from AARP Florida will present Mayor Dyer and the Mayor’s Committee on Livability and Healthy Aging with a certificate declaring Orlando a member of the AARP Network of Age-Friendly Communities and unveil the city’s new AARP Age-Friendly Community sign.
