City of Orlando Provided Transportation Briefing in Advance of Presidential Event on Tuesday, June 18th in downtown Orlando

–Update #1–

June 7, 2019 – Orlando, FL – Today, the City of Orlando provided a transportation briefing in advance of the planned Presidential event on Tuesday, June 18, in downtown Orlando.

The briefing covered several topics, including information on how the city is preparing for the event and related impacts from a transportation standpoint, what people should expect this day and recommendations on how to plan ahead.

While the City of Orlando continues to work with federal, state and local partners on a detailed traffic management plan, the community should plan for significant traffic impacts to the downtown area on Tuesday, June 18th.  

At the briefing, the additional following details were shared –

The City of Orlando encourages those who may be traveling in or out of downtown on this day to plan for additional travel time in anticipation of traffic delays.  Alternate forms of transportation, such as LYMMO, SunRail, and bike share, can also assist in getting around.

At this time, it is expected the roadways in the immediate area surrounding the Amway Center in downtown Orlando will be impacted that day, including:

• Central Boulevard
• Anderson Street
• South Street
• Garland Avenue
• Division Avenue

Specific event road closures, including any decisions regarding necessary traffic changes on I-4, will be determined by the U.S. Secret Service, not the City of Orlando.  Additional road closures may be implemented on the event day as needed.

Future updates regarding transportation plan specifics will be provided to the public as soon as official information is available.
