COVID-19 Update #4 - City of Orlando Clarification Regarding Order

Last updated on March 17, 2020

March 17, 2020 – ORLANDO, FL - Following the City of Orlando’s order related to the prohibition of alcohol sales where it is consumed on-premise, the Governor issued an executive order that mirrored the city's prohibition related to bar, nightclub and tavern establishments.

Additionally, the Governor’s Executive Order, which takes effect at 5 p.m. today, March 17, 2020, provides specific regulations for restaurants.

The City of Orlando, for consistency and to lessen confusion for businesses, will align with the Governor’s Executive Order.

To further clarify:

  • The prohibition of alcohol sales where it is consumed on-premise at bar, nightclub and tavern establishments remains in effect.  This does not apply to stores where alcohol is sold, but not consumed.

  • At 5 p.m., per the Governor’s Executive Order, restaurants within the City of Orlando will be allowed to sell alcohol for onsite consumption.  Additionally, restaurants must limit their occupancy to 50% of their current building occupancy. Restaurants should ensure at least a six-foot distance between any groups of patrons and limiting parties to no more than 10 people.
