Orlando Mayor’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission Announce Pledge Denouncing Racism and Discrimination
City leaders join the Orlando MLK Commission to invite the public to take a stand and commit to equality, justice and peace.
October 2, 2020 (Orlando, FL) – On Friday, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 5 City Commissioner Regina I. Hill joined the Orlando Mayor’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission to take stand against racism and discrimination in all forms by signing the Orlando Community Pledge.
Established by the Orlando Mayor’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission, the Orlando Community Pledge serves as an opportunity for every individual and organization to stand with Orlando Mayor Dyer, the City of Orlando and the Mayor’s MLK Commission to denounce racism and discrimination and to come together as a united Orlando.
“As we work to create a more equitable Orlando for every person who calls our city home, it’s important that we come together to condemn racism and discrimination in all forms,” said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. “As a community, we are stronger when we unite and commit to equality, justice, peace, respect and inclusion for all.”
Individuals and organizations are invited to take the pledge by going to orlando.gov/mlkpledge. Those who join Mayor Dyer in signing the pledge will be invited to participate in a variety of community events and programs presented by the Orlando Mayor’s MLK Commission to foster on-going dialogue, listening and learning.
