The City of Orlando Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month by Offering Free Virtual Workshops for the Hispanic Community

WHAT:
This Wednesday, September 23, the City of Orlando will celebrate Hispanic Heritage month by kicking off the first of three, free virtual workshops. Hosted live on the Ciudad de Orlando Facebook page, the workshops will feature topics and issues concerning the Hispanic community.

“As a welcoming and inclusive city, we are committed to continuing celebrating our differences and dedicating this month to the rich and diverse Hispanic culture and heritage,” said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. “The City of Orlando is pleased to provide three free, virtual workshops about topics important to the Latino community that will help and support our Hispanic residents during these difficult times.”

This year's theme is "Hispanics: Be Proud of Your Past and Embrace the Future." The theme invites Hispanics residents to embrace their background and be proud of their heritage, culture and nationality.

“As a Hispanic and native from the island of Puerto Rico, I am proud of my roots that taught me the true meaning of community and serving others,” said District 2 City Commissioner Tony Ortiz. “As we move forward through unprecedented times, I hope that you will join me in being hopeful for the future. Our city was built on a foundation of hard-working citizens and I have no doubt that together, we can adapt and overcome any obstacle and will continue working together to serve our communities.”
