20th Annual Wheels for Kids Kick Scooter Giveaway Brings Christmas Early to Reeves Terrace Children

WHAT:
On Monday, December 20, 2021, Santa Claus will join City of Orlando District 4 Commissioner Patty Sheehan, the Orlando Fire Department, Orlando Police Department Motors, Orlando Police Department Mounted Patrol, and community partners to help give away over 120 kick scooters to children, ages five to 15, who live in the Reeves Terrace neighborhood.

The event is part of the Wheels for Kids program, started by Commissioner Sheehan in 2002 when students in the Reeves Terrace neighborhood no longer had a bus system to take them to school.

To date, the program has given away more than 1,600 bicycles thanks to generous supporters. Due of the low availability of bicycles this year, this will be the first year that kick scooters will be given away.

This year’s scooters were made possible thanks to donations from our community sponsors, which are Baker Barrios Architects, Brasfield & Gorrie, GAI Consultants, Inc. and the Ustler Group of Companies.
