City of Orlando Conducts Fiscal Year 2021/2022 Budget Process

WHAT:
As part of the city’s annual budget process, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and the Orlando City Council will hold a workshop and two public hearings to determine the millage rate and budget for the Fiscal Year 2021/2022 budget.

Under the Mayor’s leadership, the city has created a balanced budget that does not raise taxes or make any major reductions to services or programs.

At the budget workshop on Monday, July 19, the City will outline how Orlando continues to respond to impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic while maintaining and delivering core city services that residents depend on.

Additionally, the workshop will address how the proposed budget will ensure racial equity efforts remain a priority with continued funding dedicated to enhance police accountability and transparency, to further expand youth programming and outreach and to further economic development initiatives to advance broad-based prosperity, job opportunity and skills training.

Following the budget workshop, public hearings with the opportunity for public input will take place in September, with the final hearing and vote to adopt the proposed budget scheduled for September 27, 2021.
