Mayor and City Commissioners Celebrate the Graduate Class of PKZ

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, District 5 City Commissioner Regina I. Hill and District 6 City Commissioner Bakari F. Burns Celebrate the Largest Graduate Class of Parramore Kidz Zone Students
WHAT:
Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer will join District 5 City Commissioner Regina I. Hill and District 6 City Commissioner Bakari F. Burns to celebrate the high school graduation of 41 Parramore Kidz Zone (PKZ) students, the program’s largest graduate class since the the Parramore Kidz Zone was established in 2006.
The annual ceremony honors the success of the graduating PKZ students, highlighting their achievements and looking forward to their future career paths. More than 10 scholarships will be awarded at Wednesday’s event, including scholarships honoring the late City Planner, Kevin Tyjeski who was instrumental in the city’s development and scholarships from the Kiwanis Club of Orlando Foundation, honoring the city's first My Brother's Keeper Coordinator, Gino Nicolas.
The Parramore Kidz Zone program works to improve the well-being of children in Orlando’s Parramore district, and provides them with academic assistance and overall health and wellness support. Earlier this year the City of Orlando officially launched the expansion of three additional Kidz Zones in the Holden Heights, Mercy Drive and Engelwood neighborhoods. The expanded programs will follow the PKZ model, to reach more at risk youth in the Orlando community.
