Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer to Highlight Vaccine Site Raffle and Local Vaccine Opportunities 

WHAT: 
After postponing his State of the City address, originally scheduled for August 19, last week, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer will spend the day encouraging residents to get their shot by highlighting the City of Orlando’s raffle for event tickets at select COVID-19 vaccination sites and local vaccine sites options.    

Participants age 12 and up who get vaccinated at select sites on select dates can enter into a raffle to have the opportunity to win tickets to Enrique Iglesias and Ricky Martin, J. Cole, Marc Anthony, Jimmy Buffett and other concerts at the Amway Center, Orlando Magic and Solar Bears games at the Amway Center, Orlando City SC matches at Exploria Stadium, college football bowl games at Camping World Stadium and shows at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.   

Participants who get the vaccine at the following sites can enter to win tickets through the Strengthen Orlando not for profit by submitting their name, phone number and showing proof of vaccination. (One entry per person. No purchase necessary. Winners chosen will be chosen at random on August 30, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Orlando City Hall, 400 South Orange Ave, Orlando, FL 32802):   

  • Thursday, August 19 -  Dr. James R. Smith Neighborhood Center   

  • Sunday, August 22 -  Ana G. Mendez University   

  • Tuesday, August 24 - Camping World Stadium   

  • Thursday, August 26 – Orlando City Hall

Mayor Buddy Dyer’s Schedule:  

  • 9 a.m. - 2021 All Women Empowered Impact Forum 

  • Orlando Museum of Art, 2416 North Mills Avenue 

Mayor Dyer will join the Orlando Regional Chamber and All Women  Empowered (AWE) for the 2021 AWE Impact Forum to celebrate Orlando’s women leaders and highlight the importance of getting the community vaccinated. In addition to his remarks, this collaborative event will raise awareness of the regional resources that help propel women forward.  

 

  • 10:30 a.m. - COVID-19 Mobile Vaccine Site Visit  

  • Dr. James R. Smith Neighborhood Center, 1723 Bruton Boulevard  

Mayor Dyer will join District 6 City Commissioner Bakari F. Burns to visit the COVID-19 mobile vaccine site at the Dr. James R. Smith Neighborhood Center. The mobile sites is part of a partnership between the City of Orlando, Orange County and the Department of Health in Orange County to bring mobile vaccine sites to residents in their neighborhoods over the next few weeks through the #IGotMyShot Trailer.  

 

  • 1:30 p.m. -  Bliss Vaccine Location Visit  
  • Bliss, 2901 Curry Ford Road, Suite 206 (parking and media availability behind the building)  

Mayor Dyer will join District 4 City Commissioner Patty Sheehan to visit Bliss to showcase that many local healthcare providers and pharmacies, who are trusted by residents, are offering the COVID-19 vaccine for free at their facilities. Bliss has allocated resources during the pandemic to serve the community by providing COVID-19 testing, education and vaccines to patients and all residents. In addition to offering the vaccine, Bliss regularly provides doctors’ visits, STD testing, access to medication, laboratory, mental health, transgender medicine and community linkage and referrals, as well as educational and awareness activities for individuals who acquire an STD. All these services are rendered regardless of health insurance.
