The City of Orlando Expands Kidz Zones into Three Local Neighborhoods 
Expansion takes the successful Parramore Kidz Program to three other areas of the city 

April 7, 2021 - ORLANDO, FL — This spring, the City of Orlando is proud to officially launch the expansion of Kidz Zones, mirrored after the Parramore Kidz Zone (PKZ) to reach more at risk youth and connect them with opportunity. This expansion was made possible through a dedicated $2 million in funding being approved by the Orlando City Council through the FY 20/21 budget to three additional neighborhoods, Holden Heights, Mercy Drive and Engelwood. 

“This expansion of these Kidz Zones is another way we remain committed to change and continue to invest in increasing equity throughout our city,” said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. “We have seen great success with the Parramore Kidz Zone and I look forward to watching our local youth, learn and grow in more neighborhoods throughout the city.” 

Through this additional expansion, each neighborhood will have programs tailored to serve the needs of its particular community based on research and surveys from local families in the communities. Through collaboration with other local partners, a variety of programs will be offered to provide academic support, mentoring, college assistance and other related programs. 

In 2006, Mayor Buddy Dyer launched PKZ with the goal of leveling the playing field for Parramore’s children, equipping them to become successful, healthy, well-educated adults.
