Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 5 City Commissioner Regina I. Hill to Honor Community Leaders’ Legacies with Luminary Green Park Dedication Ceremony

Signature Park Will Illuminate to Recognize Outstanding Contributions to the Parramore Community

WHAT: Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 5 City Commissioner Regina I. Hill will officially unveil the honored Luminaires at the city’s newest park, Luminary Green Park. Luminary Green Park shines a light on the legacy of public service by showcasing memorial sculptures of those who dedicated their lives to the prosperity of the Parramore Community.

At the event, the 12 steel installations that posthumously honor community members as Luminaries will be illuminated, along with the park’s pathways, to honor the inaugural class of Luminaries. Hundreds of family members and friends of each honored Luminary will stand alongside their memorial and take part in the momentous unveiling and lighting ceremony.

A selection panel of Parramore community leaders and advocates named the inaugural luminaries in March 2022. The Luminary honorees include:

  • City Commissioner Napoleon “Nap” Ford
  • City Commissioner Daisy W. Lynum
  • Vencina Cannady
  • Mercerdese R. Clark
  • Wilbur S. Gary
  • Dr. Ozell "Billy" Green
  • Eddie T. Jackson
  • Henry Sadler
  • Reverend Nathaniel G. Staggers
  • Ira "Sonny" Vance
  • Georgia Nell Woodley
  • C.T. Williams

This 2.3-acreparklocated at downtown’s Creative Village is a unique and special gathering space for residents, workers and students that compliments Parramore and serves as a signature park in downtown for generations to come. The new park also features an iconic trellis, canopy trees, shaded seating and bold Orlando letters for a city-themed photo spot.
