August 29, 2023 - ORLANDO, FL – The city continues to monitor Hurricane Idalia’s track and has plans to go to a Level 1 Full Activation at 9 p.m. tonight. City departments are continuing to take precautionary measures for any potential impacts from the storm.
Although its path and the potential impacts to the Orlando area remain uncertain, the city wants to encourage residents, visitors and businesses to continue to prepare, including assembling emergency disaster kits, stocking up on supplies and reviewing disaster plans.
CITY OPERATIONS UPDATE:
The City of Orlando’s non-essential offices and services, including City Hall, will be closed Wednesday, August 30.
All City of Orlando Community Centers, Recreation Centers, swan boats and pools will close today Tuesday, August 29 at 7 p.m.
SOLID WASTE:
Residential and commercial trash, yard waste and recycle pick up will not occur on Wednesday, August 30, and will be rescheduled to Saturday, September 2. Commercial garbage collection will be delayed until wind conditions are safe for crews to operate.
If yard waste has not been removed by city crews before the storm, the city asks residents to store it against your home. Yard waste at the curb can wash into storm drains and cause localized flooding.

The Citizen Information Line – 407-246- HELP (4357) - will go live at 9 p.m. tonightwhen the city’s Emergency Operations Center is activated. Residents are encouraged to call this line to report damage, downed trees, traffic lights that are out and to get information from the city on response efforts.
