City of Orlando – Hurricane Idalia Update #3

August 30, 2023 - ORLANDO, FL –The City of Orlando is issuing the following update to keep the community informed on Hurricane Idalia.

There were minimal impacts to the city overnight with continued wind and rain expected off and on throughout the day.

The City of Orlando Emergency Operations Center return to a Level 3 activation at 11a.m. this morning, Wednesday, August 30.

City departments are continuing to monitor impacts of the storm and assess damage and is sharing the following information:

POWER RESTORATION:


OUC crews are in the process of restoring power to 13 customers affected by the storm. Customers can report outages by calling 407-423-9018 or by texting “OUT” to 69682.

SOLID WASTE:

Commercial waste pickup resumed at 8 a.m. this morning. Residential storm debris pickup service will resume tomorrow.

Residents can help expedite the yard waste collection process by doing the following:

  • Place debris at the curb, not in the street

  • Bag and bundle yard waste

  • Separate yard waste and building materials

  • Yard waste should not be burned due to inherent dangers

CITY SERVICES AND CITY HALL:

City Hall and other facilities, including Neighborhood Centers and Recreation facilities, will reopen Thursday, August 31, for normal business hours.

TRANSPORTATION:

The Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority (LYNX)resumed normal operations at 9 a.m. ACCESS LYNX will remain active for life sustaining trips only through Wednesday. The paratransit service will return to full service with a reservation on Thursday.

CITIZEN INFORMATION LINE:


The Citizen Information Line will deactivate at 11a.m. when the Emergency Operations Center returns to Level 3 operations. For emergencies, please call 9-1-1.
