Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 4 City Commissioner Patty Sheehan Break Ground on a New Amenity, Lake Eola Park Expansion

Expansion Adds More Green Space and Further Enhances Quality of Life in the Downtown Core

WHAT:
Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, District 4 City Commissioner Patty Sheehan and City Commissioners invite the community to celebrate the groundbreaking of the expansion of Orlando’s signature at Lake Eola Park. Located at the northeast corner of Central Boulevard and Rosalind Avenue, the .12-acre expansion will bring new features to the park, such as artwork, updated lighting, large sidewalks, new benches, shade trees and native landscaping. The project will add more green space to downtown and provide another unique gathering spot for residents, workers and visitors.

This expansion of Lake Eola Park furthers the goal of the DTOutlook to expand open space within the city’s downtown CRA. The acquisition of this property was made possible through a partnership with the Orlando Land Trust, who raised $3.25 million - in addition to $1.625 million in funding from the city’s downtown CRA – to purchase the small parcel, prevent future development and donate it to the city. The park is expected to be complete this Fall.
