Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer Appoints New Chief Financial Officer for the City of Orlando

ORLANDO, FL – February 6, 2024 –Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer has announced the appointment of Michelle McCrimmon as Chief Financial Officer for the City of Orlando following the transition of Chris McCullion as he departs from the organization to serve as the Orlando Utilities Commission’s new Chief Financial Officer.

“With almost 30 years of experience, including 13 years with the City and more than 16 years in public accounting, Michelle is well qualified for the CFO role and will provide continuity of executive financial expertise for the city,” said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. “I look forward to working with Michelle in her new role.”

McCrimmon started her career with the city in 2010 in the Controller position where she led the Accounting and Control Division, ensuring compliance with government financial reporting and providing accounting support for city departments, programs and initiatives. In 2016, she was promoted to Deputy Chief Financial Officer, where she most recently served and was responsible for the oversight of several divisions including Budget, Accounting, Treasury, Procurement, Risk Management, Real Estate, Fleet and Facilities, as well as the city’s Workday team.

“There are significant demands for city resources to respond to the tremendous growth that Orlando is experiencing as well as the need to maintain and improve our existing infrastructure,” said Michelle McCrimmon, City of Orlando Chief Financial Officer. “This will require prudent spending as well as seeking new funding sources, especially for our large transformative projects. It’s an honor and a privilege to be offered the position of Chief Financial Officer. I look forward to my new role and continuing to work with my city team to continue to deliver exceptional public service in a knowledgeable, responsible and fiscally responsible manner.”

McCrimmon is a Florida Certified Public Accountant and brings a diverse background in public accounting, as prior to joining the city, she worked for 13 years with Ernst & Young LLP, including five years as an Audit Senior Manager. She also represents the city on finance and audit committees for LYNX and the Central Florida Expressway and is a member of the national and Florida chapter of the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA).

The appointment will go to City Council for approval on Monday, February 19, 2024, and go into effect on March 3, 2024.
