WHAT:
Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, District 5 City Commissioner Regina I. Hill and District 6 City Commissioner Bakari Burns invite the community to the Black History Month Signature Event at Camping World Stadium to recognize the lasting contributions and positive influence of Black Americans in the Central Florida community and across the nation. This event is part of the City of Orlando’s continued efforts to play a role in creating a more equitable, inclusive community for all residents.

Black History Month is celebrated in the month of February, and the 2023 national theme is “Black Resistance,” which recognizes how Black Americans have fought oppression and inspired others to participate in civil rights and equity movements. The theme highlights stories of achievement, perseverance and resilience that are essential to the tragedy and triumph of the continued fight for change.

This community-wide event will include a keynote address from Jasmine Burney-Clark, Founder of Equal Ground Education Fund and Action Fund, City of Orlando’s Poet Laureate Shawn Welcome, performances, music and food. The event was made possible thanks to the generous partners and Platinum sponsorships of Wells Fargo Bank, Central Florida Healthcare - 26Health, AdventHealth, Chase Bank and Bank of America.
