Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer Invites the Community to Celebrate Orlando’s Hometown Football Team with UCF Flag Raising at City Hall

WHAT:
With the start of the college football season approaching, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer invites the community to wear black and gold and join him on Thursday, July 27, 2023, as he raises the UCF flag outside City Hall alongside UCF football head coach Gus Malzahn. UCF mascot Knightro and members of the cheer team will also be in attendance to help celebrate Orlando’s hometown football team as it enters a new era.

Earlier this month, UCF moved into the Big 12 Conference, which is recognized as one of the premier college sports leagues in the country. To mark the move and the Knights’ continued athletics success and growth, Mayor Dyer will also issue an official proclamation recognizing Orlando’s status as a Big 12 city prior to the flag raising inside city hall’s rotunda.

The Knights will open their football season on August 31, 2023, at home against Kent State University with the first Big 12 home game set for September 30, 2023, versus Baylor University.

The UCF flag will fly outside Orlando City Hall throughout the college football season.
