WHAT:
"Urban Ember" is the latest project from Creative City Project and Red Tape Orlando, created in collaboration for DTOLive and presented by the City of Orlando’s Downtown Development Board and United Arts of Central Florida. This stunning public art installation, part of the broader DTOLive initiative, will be on display in downtown Orlando from October 15 through December 10, 2024.
Designed by Red Tape Orlando, "Urban Ember" is an outdoor seating sculpture that reimagines downtown as a vibrant gathering space. The bench, composed of interlocking geometric shapes and birch wood, encourages residents and visitors to explore, sit, and connect with the city’s creative energy. Plexiglass features with embedded LED lighting cast a warm, inviting glow at night, making "Urban Ember" a centerpiece of downtown’s creative spirit.
DTOLive, launched in April 2024, brings 850 free arts and culture experiences to downtown Orlando, transforming the city into a lively hub of creativity and connection. The initiative is led by the City of Orlando's Downtown Development Board in partnership with United Arts of Central Florida, Creative City Project, and the Downtown Arts District. These entities are working together to infuse the streets with live music, interactive art, and a street festival atmosphere for all to enjoy.
As the third installation in Creative City Project’s ongoing collaboration with DTOLive, "Urban Ember" follows the success of “No Place Like Home,” unveiled in June 2024, and “Big City Birds,” which debuted in August 2024.
