Last updated on September 25, 2024

The City of Orlando is issuing the following update to keep the community informed on Hurricane Helene.

There were minimal impacts to the city throughout the day, however continued rain and strong winds are expected throughout the evening and overnight.

The City of Orlando Emergency Operations Center anticipates returning to a Level 3 activation at 10 p.m. this evening, Thursday, September 26, 2024.

City departments are continuing to monitor the impacts of the storm, assess the damage, and share the following information:

REPORTING ISSUES:
To report power outages or downed power lines, OUC customers can call 407-423-9018 or text “OUT” to 69682.

To report a downed tree, call the non-emergency line at 407.246.2283. For emergency issues that require immediate attention, please call 9-1-1.

DEBRIS AND TRASH PICKUP:
Solid Waste collection ended at 2 p.m. today. Any streets that were not picked up today, will be picked up tomorrow, September 27, 2024.

Residential garbage collection, including storm debris, will be collected on regularly scheduled days beginning tomorrow, September 27, 2024. As residents are clearing debris it is important to bag and bundle debris and take steps to prevent it from entering the storm drains. Leaves and storm debris in the stormwater drains will slow down water drainage and prolong recovery time. Residents can help expedite the yard waste collection process by:

  • Placing debris at the curb, not in the street
  • Bagging and bundling yard waste
  • Separating yard waste and building materials

CITY SERVICES AND CITY HALL:
City Hall and other facilities, including neighborhood centers, parks, pools and swan boats, will reopen Friday, September 27, 2024, for normal business hours.

City of Orlando after school programs will resume at all sites on Friday, September 27, 2024.

The determination to open Leu Gardens will be made tomorrow.
