Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and the Orlando City Council Kick Off Orlando's Year-long 150th Anniversary Celebration

WHAT:
Join Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, City Commissioners and community partners as they unveil a commemorative banner to kick off a year-long celebration of Orlando’s 150th anniversary. During the event, Mayor Dyer will share exciting plans for the year ahead, leading up to the city’s official birthday on July 31, 2025.

From its humble beginnings in 1875 as a small frontier settlement with just 40 residents, Orlando has blossomed into a thriving city. Today, Orlando boasts a rich and diverse mix of arts, culture, sports, outdoor spaces, and a vibrant food scene, alongside a wide range of businesses, both big and small.

Once only four square miles in size, Orlando now encompasses more than 120 distinct neighborhoods, home to over 300,000 residents who take immense pride in their city.

Orlando is a globally recognized, welcoming city that places unity and compassion at the core of everything it does. As the community comes together to celebrate this historic 150th anniversary throughout the year and on July 31—the city’s official date of incorporation—we reflect on the past, honor the progress that’s shaped our inclusive, dynamic community, and celebrate all the unique qualities that make Orlando truly special.
