Pulse Memorial Advisory Committee Finalizes Memorial Conceptual Design

Orlando, FL – February 5, 2025– After a seven-month process that included design-brainstorm sessions and community feedback, the Pulse Memorial Advisory Committee has finalized a conceptual design for the future Pulse Memorial.

Designers from Catalyst Design Group and Baker Barrios Architects worked with the committee to create and refine the final design for the Pulse Memorial. The final design concept reflects input from the committee, and feedback received from victims’ families, survivors and community members.

The consensus among several of the committee members is that the design will allow the families and survivors to heal knowing they will soon have a place to honor their loved ones.

The Finalized Pulse Conceptual Design Includes:

• A Memorial and Reflection Space:Formed by the footprint of the original Pulse building.

• Survivor’s Commons:A Survivor’s tribute wall positioned in a landscape that will include a seating area next to a designated survivor’s tree.

• Private Gathering Space:Providing a quiet space for personal reflection and an Angel Personal Effects Capsule where families can leave flowers, tie banners and place personal mementos of their fallen angel.

• Angel Ellipse Site:An accessible elliptical walkway with 49 Canopy feature columns honoring the 49 victims with rainbow color glass panels.

• A Healing and Prism Garden:A garden designed to represent hope and healing.

• A Reflection Pool:Positioned where the dance floor was, symbolizing peace and remembrance.

• Visitor Pavilion:Intended as a welcoming space that includes public accommodations, limited exhibition space and indoor gathering space.

The next step in building the permanent memorial includes a City Council Workshop February 24. Then the City will issue a Request for Proposal in March to select a design/build firm.
