The City of Orlando partners with the University of Florida’s IFAS Extension Office and Coke Florida to teach residents:
- How rain harvesting is an inexpensive means of capturing and storing water
- How it can help to reduce pollution from stormwater runoff
- How it can help you save money on utility bills in the process
Attending the workshop is free and happens usually three times per year. Residents receive a free rain barrel as a wonderful addition to lawns and gardens for ornamental, landscaping plants, or pollinator gardens.
These barrels are recycled Coca-Cola syrup barrels that are washed and ready to be re-used to gather rain for resident-use. Over 80 rain barrels have been given to residents so far!
