December - Yvette and Kevin Kendrick
Acts of Kindness Are All Around Us
If you ever ventured out to Lake Nona, specifically the Northlake Park neighborhood during the 4th of July or Memorial Day holiday you may have seen the parade of more then 1,200 homes lined with American flags or participated in the Winter Glow Stick Jam event where there were well over 2,000 glow sticks, a DJ and a demonstration of lights. What began as a way to connect with his neighbors has blossomed into a calendar of annual events and notable moments.
"I wanted to find a way to connect with my neighbors beyond waiving to one another as we drove past each other. I asked my wife back in October 2015 if I could buy an outdoor projector and inflatable movie screen. She said yes, and that began the five plus years of us doing events in our neighborhood for kids, families and adults. We have seen young families move into the neighborhood knowing absolutely no one and after a few events, they have found their new circle of friends", said Kevin. Kevin also mentions that many of the events are made possible through sponsorships from local businesses that he's created relationships with through his own real estate business.
"Our neighborhood would not be the same without the impact of Kevin and Yevette has had. They also coordinated neighborhood prayer vigils after the Pulse tragedy, cooked pancake breakfasts for the teachers at all of the Lake Nona schools", said neighbor Ryan. Kevin and Yevette are the definition of a notable neighbors.
Thank you to Kevin and Yevette for your contribution to your neighborhood. Because of their displayed great acts of kindness they are our December Notable Neighbors.
