Black History Month

We're honored to celebrate the positive contributions of our African American residents by dedicating the month of February to Black culture and heritage. Black history is an integral part of American history because Black Americans have played an essential role in building and shaping this rich and diverse country.

During Black History Month, the City of Orlando invites residents to participate in a series of enriching events, including a community celebration, an art exhibition, and a “Meet the Artists” reception. The events will highlight this year’s Black History Month theme, “African Americans and Labor,” which showcases the significant role Black Americans have played in shaping the workforce, from their contributions to the labor movement to their innovations in various industries.

As a welcoming and inclusive city, we are committed to continuing to celebrate our differences and dedicating this month to the rich and diverse Black culture and heritage.
