Dr. I.S. Hankins House

Built in 1935 as the home of Orlando’s pioneer black physician, Dr. Isaiah Sylvester Hankins. He campaigned for improved race relations and Black home ownership. Dr. Hankins was born in Orlando and attended Johnson Academy through the 8th grade, the highest grade offered for African American children in Orlando at the time. The house features both, Spanish and French eclectic styles.
