Mado Smith
Mado Smith is an artist, musician, illustrator, and writer. A lover of symbols and nature, space and people, he creates to inspire connections with stories, places, and forgotten gifts. His work often explores the tension between the natural and the constructed, the ancient and the immediate, inviting viewers to slow down and notice what’s been waiting for them.
He co-founded Circle Square Triangle Collective, a group dedicated to fostering opportunity, education, and community through local art. In 2025, he participated in the Sam Flax Wall Project and received the United City Arts Grant, supporting his latest body of work. His creative practice spans painting, music, and storytelling, each medium influencing the other in unexpected ways.
Mado finds inspiration in the Southeast ’s rich ecosystems, folk traditions, and layered histories. Whether through vivid paintings, immersive installations, or music, his work carries a sense of mystery and discovery. He is constantly experimenting, blending raw textures, bold imagery, and symbolic language to create pieces that feel like artifacts of a lost but familiar world.
With several projects in motion, 2025 promises to be an exciting year for his work.
