Apply for My Brother's Keeper Initiative Grant

Does your nonprofit need help funding projects to support boys and young men of color?

The funds awarded under this grant are used to support boys and young men of color between the ages of 10-26, who reside or go to a school within the City of Orlando. The grant is allotted for nonprofit organizations with an annual operating budget of $350,000 or less.

NOTE: The total amount of funds available through this grant is $500,000, with the average grant size expected to be $100,000. The amount per grant will be determined by the City of Orlando.

The completed application and supporting documents must be submitted by December 10, 2021 by 5 p.m.

Step 1.Gather information

You will need to provide the following in your application:

  • History and primary location of organization
  • Primary services provided
  • Program design (demographics of participants, staffing, program scheduling, etc.)
  • Budget
  • Completed W-9
  • A copy of currently valid IRS tax exemption certificate
  • One letter of support from partner

Step 5.Submit your application

Once completed, email the application and supporting documents to abraham.morris@orlando.gov by December 10, 2021 by 5 p.m. All documents must be included in one email to be considered.

  • A copy of currently valid IRS tax exemption certificate
  • One letter of support from partner

Step 6.We will contact you

Your application will be reviewed and you will be contacted if further information is needed. If approved, the grant agreement shall be effective on the date indicated in the grant agreement (expected to be January 1,2022) and shall run for nine months from that date (expected to be September 30, 2022) with an option by the mutual agreement of the City of Orlando and the contractor to renew for two additional one-year periods.

Renewal of the grant agreement will be based upon the proposer’s satisfactory performance, contractual findings, and availability of funds.
