Third Place - "Lets do better" by Geri Hopkins

I just want to do better
I just want to keep it cold like up north November
Be an autumn sweater made of swan feathers
protecting you from mother nature's harsh weather or to help you fly
it can be whichever, it's all perspective
and you can be the ink blot drawn on my love letter you know the
you know the cheese, wine, and all things go together
you know those Bonnie & Clyde vibes without the felon
just refreshing like summertime watermelon
or the two for one bananas at 7-11 you're just sweet
kind of like my intentions
and our vibes are tighter than braids done in your mama's kitchen
and more delicious than granny's homemade biscuits
and we're lit like a tree on Christmas
making dreams come true adding to the wishlist
and I insist this or you regret that
a bunch of coco butter mother's brown sugar kisses
you know the smart girls that are into fitness
I just want to talk less and listen, be more persistent
drowning in ambition, shutting down my critics while being more considerate
because this skin bears a spirit that can barely fit in
