Jaliyah Anthony - Freedom High School

Jaliyah Antony

Jaliyah is a remarkable example of what a young woman can accomplish with resilience, grit, and a little help. She is a member of the University of South Florida Upward Bound program and has been Miss USF Upward Bound since 11th grade. She already had the dream of college, and through that program she received the encouragement to pursue her dream as well as the knowledge of how to accomplish it. She has been taking dual enrollment classes at Valencia State College since her junior year and participates as an artistic Spoken Word performer and is part of her school’s theatre troupe.

Jaliyah has a deep sense of social awareness; she sees the needs around her and wants to be able to inspire others in the Black, foster care, and LGBTQ+ communities to achieve success. Jaliyah favorite MLK book is Letter From a Birmingham Jail.

Future Plans: Jaliyah plans to attend MIT or Columbia University and pursue a career as a Software Engineer.

Favorite MLK quote: “We will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.”
