Sydney Ihekwoaba (Syd) - East River High School

Sydney is an inspiring, compassionate, and ambitious young lady. She is ranked in the top 10 of her graduating class, on track to earn both the Capstone Diploma and AP Scholar designation, as well as a recipient of the College Board National African American Recognition program. Syd has compassionately served both her school and community through the National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, the Girls’ Basketball Team, and tutoring.

Syd loves giving back to the community by volunteering at the local elementary schools and virtual tutoring because she is able to help shape the minds of the younger generation. She encourages and inspires others in their goals and shows them that dreams can come true with hard work and perseverance. Through her numerous activities, Syd has shown she is a natural born leader and mentor. 

Future Plans: Sydney’s goal is to become an Aeronautical Engineer and attend Stanford University.
