Khadedra John - Wekiva High School

Years of classroom instruction about Dr. King’s life’s purpose and work led Khadedra to recognize her duty, especially as a young woman of color, to be a good citizen.   She has learned through conscientious study that she has the ability to have a meaningful impact on the community.  Khadedra believes a simple act of kindness done by one person benefits the receiver as well as the giver and can affect the trajectory of the entire world.  She actively volunteers in her school’s beautification program to help provide an environment conducive to learning.  As a member of the Math Honor Society, she serves as a tutor.   Khadedra’s ambition to succeed is reflected by awards she has received from a young age, including some received in her native country of Jamaica.  She is an OCPS District Spanish Spelling Bee champion.  She was named Top 10 GSAT student, and Prefect & Peer Counselor and awarded the Tang Mathematics Scholarship.
