Cheyenne Peoples is an intelligent and motivated young woman who strongly believes in volunteering because it helps to build connections and encourage positive attitudes. She is also very committed to academics and has earned her memberships into the Environment Science Club, Black Student Union, and National Honor Societies where she holds the positions of President and Vice-President in both clubs. Cheyenne maintains a 4.68 weighted grade point average while being ranked in the top 5% of her class.  She has documented over 900 hours of community service from helping to teach fundamental reading skills to disabled children, to managing the school’s football team, as well as her altruistic membership in the Keepin It Classy Sisterhood. Cheyenne was selected as a 3DE ambassador to assist with underclassmen business presentations, and to work closely with local business leaders.  Cheyenne has received numerous service awards for projects like organizing food drives for the local food bank, visiting residents at a nursing home, and participating in community clean-up events. One of the most powerful events she participates in is the annual MLK March downtown, because it illustrates and compassionately demonstrates a better understanding of Dr. King’s beliefs and his impact.

Favorite MLK Quote:  “True peace is not merely the absence of tension; it is the presence of justice.”
