2025 MLK Humanitarians

The Mayor’s Youth Humanitarians are 28 outstanding community youth who exemplify the ideals embraced by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. through their character and leadership.

These students exemplify the ideals of Dr. King that our city and our MLK Commission believe in. The student winners were selected for the honor based on the content of their character and service to others in the community.

2025 MLK Youth Humanitarians

Christopher Bilbruck- East River High School

Christopher Bilbruck loves the arts. His passion is clearly visible as the current construction head for the school’s theatre department.

Lathari Miller Jr.- Sheeler High School

Lathari Miller Jr. is an exceptional young man and has completed over 200 hours of community service. Lathari serves as a student ambassador, and in his church, Joy Unspeakable Church of God by Faith, he is a youth leader.

Salina-Thao Kim Luong- Edgewater High School

Salina-Thao Kim Luong is actively involved in her community and generously gives back by participating in beautification and clean up projects, volunteering at the Second Harvest Food Bank, donation drives, Legacy Youth basketball drill camp, Camp Intervention, and working with the Rotary Club.

Isabella Rivas Herrera- Lake Buena Vista High School

Isabella Rivas Herrara is an academically focused and successful student with outstanding integrity and tremendous ability.

Keith Marcel Harris Jr.- Timber Creek High School

Keith Marcel Harris, Jr. is bright, energetic, compassionate and genuinely well rounded student. His grades have been consistently above average with a 4.2 weighted GPA throughout his high school career.

Camryn Flakes- West Orange High School

Camryn Flakes is extraordinarily intelligent, responsible, dedicated, and a student leader amongst her peers. She takes rigorous classes at West Orange High while being dual enrolled at Valencia College.

Mauvy Ramirez Ledesma- Colonial High School

Mauvy Ramirez Ledesma is an award winning member of the Colonial Debate team and an active member in both the National Honor Society and National Hispanic Honor Society.

Calleigh Bellmany- Winter Park High School

Calleigh Bellmany is an ambitious leader and compassionate individual with a strong academic and extracurricular record. Recognized as an AP Super Scholar and an AP Scholar with Honor, she also received the African-American Achievement Award from College Board.

Matthew Paul- University High School

Matthew Paul exemplifies strong leadership abilities as the team’s football captain and as a high achieving academic scholar.

Zariah Patterson- Dr. Phillips High School

Zariah Patterson is a super star captain of her school cheer team, very active in her church, and is a strong leader in service organizations throughout the community.

Jonathan Pierre-Louis- Ocoee High School

Jonathan [Jon] Pierre-Louis is the school’s Senior Class President whose commanding skills shine as leader of the marching band drum line, historian in the band, and social media manager, newly elected member of Beta club, National Honor Society, Chess club, and Color Me Club.

Abigaëlle Francios- Freedom High School

Abiagelle Francois is the kind of person who will go the extra mile to ensure that she is clearly communicating and helping others in any way possible. She stays focused, motivated, and finds joy in serving her community.

Mayah Thrift- William R. Boone High School

Mayah Thrift is an excellent and hard-working student, full of grit and resilience, ranking 6th in her senior class as well as being an AP scholar.

Gavin Mills- Olympia High School

Gavin Mills embodies the spirit of service and leadership through his passion for helping others and his commitment to making a positive impact among his school mates, family, and local area residents.

Roddrick Leeks- Maynard Evans High School

Roddrick (Rodd) Leeks is very much appreciated at Evans High School for his many talents and ability to get along well with the students, but also for his willingness to do whatever is necessary to keep the peace.

Journee Holmes- Apopka High School

Journee Holmes has an unassailable desire to showcase her exceptional character and unwavering commitment to service which embodies Dr. King’s vision for a more just and equitable world.

Josbel Reyes Camacho- Lake Nona High School

Josbel Reyes Camacho exemplifies Dr. King’s legacy of equality, respect, and inclusion through active engagement in his community. With over 300 community service hours.

Genesis Neil- Wekiva High School

Genesis Neil exhibits all the qualities that Dr. King stood for and more.

Timothy Gittens- Horizon High School

Timothy J Gittens brings light to Dr. King’s legacy of “loving each other” by loving others the way that God taught him to love.

Desira Fountain- Acceleration West High School

Desira Fountain models the true essence of Dr. King’s philosophy in her everyday way of life. She treats everyone fairly regardless of race, sex, political views, or financial status.

Raymond Rosa- Jones High School

Raymond Rosa honors the legacy of Dr. King through his acts of leadership and service.

Cheyenne Peoples- Oak Ridge High School

Cheyenne Peoples is an intelligent and motivated young woman who strongly believes in volunteering because it helps to build connections and encourage positive attitudes.

Sydney Taylor- Cornerstone Charter Academy

Sydney Taylor is enrolled in very rigorous classes and will consequently, earn her Associate’s in Arts degree upon completing high school.

Gregory Flowers- Acceleration East High School

Gregory Flowers possesses an incredible level of maturity and willingness to help others, which is often rare for someone his age. This multi-year honor roll student demonstrates this by being extremely kind, honest, reliable, and ambitious at all times.
