GENERAL ITEMS 

Election Update  

We want to start by congratulating Commissioners Ortiz, Sheehan and Burns, who will all be returning to the City Council for new four-year terms. We look forward to continuing to work with you – and Commissioners Gray, Stuart and Hill – as we keep serving Orlando residents and moving our community forward.  

UCF Student Government Day  

And today we have some special guests from our hometown university, with a number of students from UCF’s Student Government here.  

In addition to attending City Council, these students will spend the rest of the afternoon learning from city staff about ways we partner with UCF and how we engage residents in city government.  

So, thank you, students for being engaged and wanting to learn more about the City of Orlando. Go Knights! 

Holiday Happenings 

It’s hard to believe, but we’re getting ready to celebrate the holiday season here in Orlando. 

There are several events for our community to enjoy, including our annual Tree Lighting Celebration on Friday, December 1, and back by popular demand, our holiday drone show at Lake Eola Park on December 23.   

Also, you won’t want to miss our holiday light stroll and Merry Market in downtown Orlando, which will be open every weekend in December to shop local and support our small business community.

Commissioner Stuart Birthday 

And speaking of holidays, two weeks from today it will be District 3 City Commissioner Robert Stuart’s birthday. Commissioners, as is our custom, would you join us in singing happy birthday to Commissioner Stuart. 

ITEMS OF NOTE 

CRA#4-6 – DTO Restaurant Program 

As we continue to transform our downtown into a true urban neighborhood for everyone, we understand that adding amenities, like fine dining options and retail locations are vital to driving economic growth, creating jobs and contributing to its continued revitalization. Today on the agenda, there are three new restaurants looking to open in our downtown core by taking advantage of the new incentive program - the DTO Restaurant Program - which will further Orlando’s foodie scene and provide more options for our residents and workers downtown.
