OCPS PRESENTATION
In case you haven’t noticed, it is election season – with the general election coming up in just two weeks on November 5th. We want to encourage everyone, if they haven’t already, to have a plan for voting, to research the candidates and issues on the ballot, and to make sure to turnout and have your voice heard. One of the important decisions that Orange County voters will decide is whether to continue the existing half-cent sales tax for the support of our public schools.
With us today to provide a “Briefing on the Proposed Half-Cent Sales Tax Extension for Orange County Public Schools” is Mr. Scott Howatt, Chief Communications Officer for OCPS.
GENERAL ITEMS
Hurricane Relief Efforts "Thank you" Remarks
The last few weeks were challenging for communities across the state. Hurricane Milton was a powerful storm that had major impacts, especially on the west coast. Our city sends its love to the communities still facing the aftermath of the hurricane.
We were proud that here in Orlando, residents took Milton seriously and were prepared. We are also incredibly grateful for our City of Orlando team members who helped us get all ready. And then move on to recovery and debris collection efforts.
To our City staff: thank you for serving our community before, during and after Milton.
ITEMS OF NOTE
A#5 – Winter Park CRA Agreement
Today’s agenda includes a City of Orlando agreement with the City of Winter Park and Orange County to expand the Winter Park CRA. A portion of the expansion area is within the City of Orlando and we look forward to partnering with the Winter Park CRA to advance affordable housing, sustainability and transportation safety projects identified in its updated plan.
Mayor DeCiccio is here today and we want to thank her for the City of Winter Park’s collaboration and recognition of the power of partnership here in our region.
