OPD Puerto Rico Hurricane Maria Relief Effort Deployment
Mayor Buddy Dyer recognized members of the police department who recently deployed to Puerto Rico. Since Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico, our staff and community have been working to assist evacuees and those remaining on the island.
As part of the Puerto Rico FEMA request for law enforcement assistance, 12 members of the Orlando Police Department were deployed to Puerto Rico for almost two weeks.
Thank you to the City’s Police Department for your outstanding work in this relief effort.
Remembering Lt. Debra Clayton
Tuesday, January 9 marks one year since the passing of Orlando Police Department Lt. Debra Clayton. OPD held a half-mile community walk starting at Hankins Neighborhood Center. Our community will never forget Lt. Clayton, as well as Orange County Sheriff’s Office Deputy First Class Norman Lewis, who also lost his life one year ago.
We will always remember and never forget the impact Debra Clayton has had on our community.
