Proclaim February 2022 as Black History Month
Each February, our community celebrates Black History Month, recognizing the achievements and contributions that Black Americans have made to our nation, state and city. We want to thank the city staff on our Black History Month Steering Committee, who have planned in-person and virtual events and workshops that support our continued efforts to create an inclusive, equitable city for all.

COVID-19 & Emergency Rental Assistance Program
A few weeks ago, Susie and Mayor Dyer both tested positive for COVID-19. Thankfully during their quarantine period, they only experienced mild symptoms, which they attribute to getting both doses of the vaccine and our booster shots.
With the virus still impacting our community, we want to remind residents of two services that the City of Orlando is offering. Our free COVID-19 testing site continues to operate seven days a week at Camping World Stadium, with little to no wait times each day.
And the online portal is again open to accept applications to provide Emergency Rental Assistance to households that have been financially impacted due to the pandemic. Visit orlando.gov for information on testing and rental assistance.

A#2 Redistricting Advisory Board Appointments
Today, we are considering a resolution that will kick-off our 2022 redistricting process and appoint the Redistricting Advisory Board. Over the coming months, this board will gather and study the 2020 census data, take and consider public testimony and plans, and propose a redistricting plan for each of the city’s six commission districts. Once the board has a proposed redistricting plan, it will present its plan to Council for consideration and adoption.
We wish the board members luck as they begin this important civic duty and look forward to reviewing the proposed plan. We also want to encourage all residents to provide input at upcoming meetings. To learn more about the process and redistricting meetings, please visit orlando.gov/redistricting.
C#10 & CRA #1 – STRIVE & High Wage High Value Agreement - Home Lending Pal, Inc.
Lastly, also on today’s agenda is an item that will further our efforts, to continue to diversify our economy, bring high-wage, high-value jobs to Orlando, further grow our targeted industry sectors and accelerate downtown’s reputation as a place for headquarters and other businesses to relocate, expand and thrive.
Today, we seek to approve a package of actions to support the relocation of Home Lending Pal’s headquarters and 275 new high-value jobs to downtown Orlando, including the Public Transportation Incentive, Downtown Living Incentive, and STRIVE funding.
