Seniors First 

Seniors First provides services to Orlando’s vulnerable elderly. These programs help seniors live independently in their homes and increase their quality of life. Services include:

• Meal Programs
• In-home care
• Guardianship
• Minor Home Repair

Sharp needles are dangerous to people and pets. If not disposed of safely, they can spread infections which can cause serious health conditions. The Orlando Fire Department accepts Sharps approved containers and can dispose, replace or exchange them for free at all of our 17 fire stations. Properly dispose of needles and syringes by bringing locked Sharps boxes to any Orlando Fire Station and receive a new container.

Print a medical card(PDF, 291KB) and fill it out with your medical needs and current medications. This card provides firefighters with a clear record of your medications in order to expedite emergency medical services.

The card includes trackers for medication type, prescribed dosage and reasons why you take the medications.

Residents who have no alternative means of shelter and suffer from a medical condition that requires medical attention by a skilled professional should register with the Orange County Special Needs Registry to receive assistance during a disaster. This registry provides first responders with valuable information to prepare for disasters or other emergencies.

The Orlando Arson and Bomb Squad offers a fire safety course geared toward curbing destructive behavior with the presence of fire.

Classes are offered quarterly in 2020. The first class is on January 15. Upcoming dates will be in April, July and October. Call 407.246.FIRE to schedule.

Orlando firefighters in partnership with the Early Learning Coalition read to dozens of students in more than 60 Orange County Public Schools as part of the Books and Badges program.
 
Once a month, firefighters read new books to kids ages 0 - 5 as a way to promote early literacy, as well as introduce our youth to fire safety information, such as how to make an emergency plan and dialing 911.
