Request a Knox Box Key Installation

Step 1.Check your eligibility

Your Commercial or Multifamily property must be within City of Orlando limits. Although your address may say Orlando, you might be in unincorporated Orange County or another nearby city. Use this map to verify if your property is within the City of Orlando limits.

If your property is outside the city limits, please contact Orange County Fire Rescue at 407.836.0004 for assistance.

Step 2.Gather the items to be stored in the box

At minimum, you will need:

• One master key (or set of keys) per floor (or per 10,000 sq feet.)
• One set of keys per elevator.
• Alarm panel, pull station, sprinkler and other fire protection controls.
• Electronic access cards or special keys not on the master system.
• Computer thumb drive with building plans, emergency procedures, hazardous materials on site and emergency contacts.

Keys should be clearly marked by use.

Step 3.Purchase your Knox Box

Knox box purchases are made directly from the vendor. Ensure that you choose "Orlando Fire Dept" as the Local fire department/agency.

Step 4.Make a payment

After receiving your Knox Box, fill out a fee application to let us know how you will pay. You need to complete a separate application for each address you want to install a Knox Box.

Once submitted, we will review your application and contact you within three business days to complete the payment process.

Step 5.Install your Knox Box

After payment is made, you can install your Knox Box. You must mount the box at a height of six to six feet five inches (6’-6’5”) from the ground.

Step 6.We will lock the box

Notify us when the box has been installed to place the keys. Please allow three business days for an email confirmation with a date.
