Do not approach, follow or make any contact with suspicious persons or vehicles.
For the best report, write down the tag number, color and make of the car and direction of travel. Also write down a brief description of the suspicious person:
- race
- hair color
- height
- build, etc.
When in doubt, call 911. Let OPD investigate. If you don't call within two minutes of seeing suspicious activity, the chances are the suspect will get away.
Remember:
Community members serve as the "eyes and ears" of law enforcement. They should report their observations of suspicious activities to law enforcement; however, citizens should never try to take action on those observations. Trained law enforcement should be the only ones ever to take action based on observations of suspicious activities.
