Report a Non-Violent Crime

Do you want to report a non-violent crime?

The Orlando Police Department offers you the ability to report non-violent and property crimes, such as a theft or vehicle break-in, online. These reports are used to understand crime patterns in our city and to help reduce overall crime.

Step 1.Check your eligibility to file an electronic police report

If this is an emergency, please call 911 for an officer to respond in person. 

If you know who committed the crime you are reporting, please call our 24-hour NON-EMERGENCY line at 321.235.5300 and then press “0”  to have an officer dispatch to you to take the report.

Confirm the following to find out if filing a report by phone is right for you:

  • This incident occurred within the city limits of City of Orlando.
    • If you’re not sure if the address is in the city limits, you can check the address online.
      Check your address
    • If you are outside Orlando city limits, please check with your local jurisdiction.
  • You do not know who committed the crime. 
  • The property lost or stolen does not include a firearm of any type.
  • ALL Fraud reports can be done online at Report Identity Theft or Fraud or leave a message at 407.246.4012.

You can report the following crimes online:

  • Theft
  • Vehicle burglary/break-In
  • Vandalism
  • Harassing phone call (with an unknown caller)
  • Lost property

Many property crime cases yield no physical evidence or fingerprints. To ensure law enforcement resources are used efficiently for our community, officers do not go to your location to collect evidence or fingerprints if you report using this service.

Step 2.Gather your information

Collect as much information as possible about your stolen property. Model numbers, serial numbers or any other way to identify your property are helpful.

We will ask for more information about you, your property and what happened.

Step 3.We'll get back to you

You will receive a tracking number immediately after your report has been successfully submitted. After staff reviews your report and it is approved, you will receive a case number and a PDF copy as an attachment that you will be able to print for your records.

Note: Please check your “spam” or “junk” folder if you have not received an email response.

Step 4.Contact us if you need to update your case

Contact us at 407.246.2470 if you need to add more information to your case. Provide your case number when doing so.

Call 407.246.2470 to report your non-violent crime or if you need to update your existing case. Provide your case number when doing so. Our normal business hours are Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Step 4.Get a report for you records

To obtain a copy of your report, please wait 5-7 business days after receiving your case number, then call OPD Records Department at 407.246.2406 or email opdrecords@orlando.gov.
