Currently, women make up only 12% of sworn officers and 3% of police leadership throughout the United States. Within the Orlando Police Department, women represent over 15% of all sworn personnel.
The 30x30 Initiative is a coalition of police leaders, researchers and professional organizations who have joined together to advance the representation and experiences of women in policing agencies across the United States.
Creating a diverse, equitable and inclusive department is a driving force in building trust with our communities. Our goal is to increase the representation of women in police recruit classes to 30% by 2030, and to ensure police policies and culture intentionally support the success of qualified women officers throughout their career.
The Orlando Police Department is committed to advancing the representation of women and other diverse populations in policing. Working collaboratively with city departments, community partners and other institutions to ensure we are successful.
